Zeytin Üretiminde Yeni Avrupa Komisyonu Direktifi
Yakında yürürlüğe girecek olan Avrupa Komisyonu direktifi ile zeytin üretiminde önemli değişiklikler yapılacak. Bu yeni direktif, zeytin üretiminde kansere yol açabilen polisiklik aromatik hidrokarbonlara (PAH) sınırlama getirecek. PAH’lar, hava kirliliği yanı sıra zeytin ağaçlarının kesildiği testereler ve zeytin çuvallarından da bulaşabilen zararlı kimyasallardır.
Üreticilerin Bilgilendirilmesi
Avrupa Komisyonu direktifine göre, zeytin üretiminde PAH’ların sınırlanması gerekliliği vurgulanmaktadır. Bu bulaşmanın genellikle zeytin değirmenlerindeki işleme sırasında veya hava kirliliği yoluyla zeytin kabuğuna bulaşarak gerçekleştiği belirtilmektedir. Zeytin ağaçlarının PAH içeren kimyasallarla budanması ve zeytinleri taşımak için kullanılan çuvallardaki kimyasalların da bulaşmaya neden olabileceği ifade edilmektedir. Bu nedenle Avrupalı zeytinyağı üreticileri, üretim yöntemlerini değiştirmek zorunda kalacak ve çiftçiler eğitilmelidir.
Etkileri ve Endişeler
Yeni düzenleme, özellikle Yunanistan gibi AB ülkelerinde zeytin üretimi yapan çiftçileri etkileyecektir. Diğer AB üyeleri de direktifin 2028’e ertelenmesini talep etmektedir. Belirlenecek standartlar doğrultusunda zeytinyağının gıda olarak tüketilemeyecek duruma gelmesi halinde, biyodizel yakıta dönüştürülmesi planlanmaktadır. Bu durumda yağın fiyatında büyük bir düşüş yaşanabilir.
Sağlık Riskleri
PAH’lar vücutta depolanabilir ve çeşitli kanser türlerine yol açabilir. Ayrıca DNA mutasyonlarına ve sağlık sorunlarına neden olabilir. Bu zararlı maddeler, çeşitli kaynaklardan ortaya çıkabilir ve sağlık üzerinde ciddi etkilere sahiptir.
Sonuç olarak, Avrupa Komisyonu’nun yeni direktifi zeytin üretiminde önemli değişikliklere neden olacak ve bu durum zeytinyağı endüstrisini etkileyecektir. Türk üreticiler de bu gelişmeleri yakından takip etmelidir.
